The Istanbul International airport or the Istanbul Atatürk Airport is the main airport that serves one of the most popular cities of Turkey, Istanbul. It is also the biggest airport situated in Turkey in terms of the total number of passengers, destinations and locations served and aircraft movements. The airport was opened in 1924 and situated in Yeşilköy, which is also known as the European side of the Istanbul city. It is only 15 miles away from the city centre and operates as the main hub for Turkish Airlines.
